Gates

At Alpha Rail we make gates designed for privacy, security of course beauty.

Gates not only distinguish the entrance and perimeter to a property but they also create a first impression to all visitors passing by. We often ask ourselves us why house owners will spend freely on the interior design in the hope of creating a good impression but totally overlook the aesthetics at the front of their house?

Today, gates and railings are a focal feature for both security and garden design. They add a feel good factor to a property, quality in the form of craftsmanship and the use of traditional techniques to recreate time-honoured designs.

If nothing else, nicely designed Gates and Railings create a first impression that can make a real statement, showing the onlooker your understanding and appreciation of quality design and craftsmanship as well as giving your home a sense of grandeur and privacy.

How To Choose The Right Gate For Your House?

Stunning gates give an impression whenever people walk or drive past your house. Such gateways are not only attractive but also practical because they are made from affordable material and the height is reasonable. Gated communities are among the most protected from theft or looting during civil unrest. Some are made from wrought iron while others from hard wood in relation to the type of garden or environment the house is surrounded with.

Choosing the right gate for your house depends on the following factors: kids, pets and unsafe neighbourhood or even wanting to add this little extra to your safety. If you have kids in the house and you want to protect them from wondering into the yard or garden, you need gates that will not harm your kids when they are outside exploring or playing. Some kids like to climb gates and these gates should be high to prevent them from climbing and falling which will cause fatal injuries. They should be made from hard wood which will not break and crash over a kid.

Pets are also considered when choosing the right gate for your house. This means that they should not have wide spaces that will allow pets to pass through and wonder off in the neighborhood. There are people who also steal pets and electronics in people’s house. When there is a gate in front of your house, a thief will tend to try somewhere else as . If your house has a long driveway, you need an automatic entrance with an intercom so that you will know your visitors and only allow authorized people in the house. Driveway gateways are mostly lightweight and made from aluminum which is a cheap and strong metal.

If you need privacy from neighbours and strangers, you need an entrance that is higher to conceal your garden and yard from neighbors. Garden gates on the other hand will create a stir whenever people pass by your house. They look great with amazing creations. Most people prefer wrought iron and the black color which makes people’s stare turn to the garden’s beautiful flowers and plantations. Modern designs employ the use of white vinyl which gives the house an elegant touch. People who have decks also choose high gateways mainly for security reasons. They are often made with high latches hence preventing kids from climbing it and causing accidents.

Alpharail's fantastic range of gates

If you are looking to add extra security or privacy to your home or business then one thing that could help is a gate. There are many different types available on the market today. So which one is best for you?

Here at Alpharail our experienced staff will be happy to advise and help you find the best type of gate to suit your needs and budget. We can produce a variety of gate solutions ranging from plain to ornate gates, to match any fencing or railing systems you may already have installed.

Over the years we have worked on many commercial and residential properties including schools, parklands, commercial businesses and new housing developments.

For commercial businesses security is paramount. Having properly secured premises will often act as a deterrent to thieves. At Alpharail we would recommend using either sliding or swing gates depending on the type of business. We can manufacture a variety of gates in different sizes and styles to suit your needs. Below is an example of one of our gates designed for business use. Unlike most standard gates we have made this particular gate with an ornate finish and added bit of colour to complete the overall look.

Most of the gates we work on are usually finish in black, however, when we worked on a school we had the opportunity to not only inject a bit of colour into the gate, but to create a very ornate gate to reflect the school and the children.

For residential properties we would recommend a simple swing gate. This is the most popular type of gate. A swing gate is hinged gate that opens and closes. They can either be single or double depending on the space they have to cover.

So whatever your need or budget, here at Alpharail we believe we have the right gate for you! Let Alpharail help you to secure your home or business and help give you peace of mind.

The Many Uses and Benefits of Wrought Iron Railings

Iron plays an important part in the construction industry. It is a very resilient and malleable material and this allows it to be used in various designs and for different functions. The use of iron in construction does not, however, end at the super structure. Iron is also used for its aesthetic qualities most commonly in the form of wrought Iron railings. They come in various designs and styles and are used as a form of protection as well as for decorative purposes.

Safety is the primary use for iron railings and they are commonly used in schools, homes, public parks, and so on, to either keep people and animals in, or out. Furthermore they are also used in car parks, theme parks and other recreational facilities to ensure protected areas remain secure. The other primary use for iron railings is for aesthetic purposes. Different designs and styles of railings can be used to create a more styled and creative look to a property. Iron railings are also commonly used with gates, which as well as providing security benefits can also improve the exterior appearance of a property or public area.

There are many types and styles of iron railing available. Here is a summary of these. The vertical bar system is the most common and is mostly used for security purposes. Within this range are other styles and designs such as the Albany, the Westminster and Kennington versions, amongst others. The bow top style of railing is traditionally used for parks and children’s play areas. Versions within this series include the Standard bow top, interlaced bow top, in addition to four other versions. Guardrails are another use for railings, which are mostly used as pedestrian guardrails and for cordoning off street sections. There are also decorative pedestrian guardrails used to revamp otherwise drab and dreary streets.

Bespoke or custom made railings are also a popular use for iron railings. These may be used anywhere; from gates and gazebos, to theme parks and the designs are as varied as the requirements and uses. Chevron and flat top fencing are available for almost any environment and are popular choice for their simplicity. In contrast balustrades add a debonair atmosphere to any home, internal and external versions mean you can showcase the intricate metalwork designs to all and sundry.

Iron railings are so diverse and can be used for all sorts of purposes such as Juliette balconies, gates, finials, handrails, arches, barriers, cycle stands and much more making them a great addition to any property or public area.
