Finish off your Fence with Finials and Finishes

When creating a fence design, something that is often overlooked is the finial, the name given to the rail and post heads. Adding something extra to the top of the fence has the dual aspect of adding increased security to a boundary railing and adding an extra design edge to the rail.

Railing Finials vary from a single point often a similar shape to an arrowhead but they can also be rounded and have more than one point coming off them. Railing Finials can have posts finials that echo the design of the rail finials or can be something a bit different.

If you have a look at some of our more recent projects like Speakers Corner in Hyde Park, the finials there are more unusual and denote a megaphone to reflect the history of Speakers' corner. In other projects like in the Thompson Veterinary practice the finials tied the handrail to the railing by the use of a different colour; this use of colour makes the finial stand out.

In many of our projects you can see the traditional arrow shaped finial but if you haven't seen a finial you want to use Alpharail can commission a finial of your own design to give the railing a look that is unique. You could consider a bespoke finial, if you have a unique design you can use that is linked to your business, school or park like the Hyde Park megaphone.

Aside from finials, the other possible consideration for finishing your fence is the finish. All Alphrail's are hot dip galvanized using a zinc coating this helps to provide extra protection for the rails from rust.

Alpharail rails tend to be powder coated at the factory to provide a durable weather-proof finish to further protect your rail from corrosion and give an even finish. Like paint, powder coating can be in a range of colours so does not necessarily have to limit your choice alternatively the rail can be painted.

Human beings always sought for materials that could be transformed, shaped and made into usable devices that made life much easier. When it comes to places such as schools and playgrounds, bespoke metalwork can come in very handy. Given the flexibility that there is to actually implement creative designs, schools can benefit from fun-looking gates and rails that will allow the children to feel more at ease. The rails can be made to include mathematical equations, lettering, signs, shapes of children and basically a lot more. Transform Your Property with a Juliette Balcony

A balcony can be a great addition to any home. It can be a way to change the style of a home without spending a large amount of money and without too much work. There are several types of balconies; Maltese and Juliette just to name a few. When trying to decide what kind of balcony will work best, you may want to consider your budget, the amount of space you have to work with and what you are likely to use the balcony for. If you have a limited budget, and not a lot of space to work with then a Juliette balcony may be the best option for you.

The name Juliette balcony comes from a famous scene in the Shakespearean play "Romeo and Juliet". A Juliette balcony is used with French doors, which allows you a small amount of room to step out onto and prevents anyone from falling. As well as this it can increase the light and ventilation into a room and transforms the exterior of your property, making it much more attractive. Almost any set of windows can be removed to make room for a set of doors and using single glazed doors will allow in extra light to help brighten the room.

Alpha Rail has a stunning variety of styles and designs of Juliette balconies to choose from. The "Portland", "Byron" and "Washington" are all classic styles with a contemporary flair, making them perfect for any style of architecture. The "Rufford" design is a simple Victorian style that can add a touch of sophistication to your home. The newest style that Alpha Rail offers is the “Chatsworth”, which features a diamond design at the top of the railing. The "Lincoln" and the "Jefferson" reflect minimalism, which is perfect if you’re looking for a more contemporary style, whereas the "Cleveland" is traditional with a modern twist featuring wavy lines.

Whatever the style of your home, whether it is modern or period, a Juliette balcony can improve the curb appeal of your property and could even add to its value. Make sure, however, that you hire a specialist company like Alpha Rail to install the balcony as they have the skills and expertise to ensure that it is done properly and safely.
